QuickBooks File Analyzer: Will Your File Convert?
Quick answer: whether your QuickBooks Desktop or Sage file converts cleanly to QuickBooks Online comes down to a few numbers Intuit never explains: total targets (hard limit 750,000 for the built-in tool), your chart-of-accounts count (250-account ceiling below QBO Advanced), file size and database health. Type five numbers from your Ctrl+1 Product Information screen below and get the verdict instantly — nothing is uploaded.
Enter your file’s numbers
In QuickBooks Desktop, press Ctrl+1. File Information is top-left; List Information is on the right.
File Analyzer FAQs
Where do I find these numbers?
Open your company file and press Ctrl+1 (QuickBooks) to open the Product Information window. File size, total targets, total transactions and DB file fragments are in the File Information section; Total Accounts is under List Information. Sage 50 users can read equivalents from File > Properties and the Chart of Accounts list.
What is Intuit's 750,000 target limit?
Intuit's built-in Desktop-to-Online migration tool rejects company files with more than 750,000 targets (the internal rows that make up your transactions). Files over the limit are not stuck — they need a condense or a professional migration that carries history another way.
Is this analyzer really free?
Yes. The verdict is calculated instantly in your browser — nothing is uploaded. If you want the written report and a fixed quote, send it to yourself by email and we will follow up within one business day.
