Quick answer: QuickBooks Online raised prices August 1, 2026 (Plus $140/mo, Advanced $340/mo) and Xero raises US prices October 1, 2026. Pick your plan below to see your true yearly and 3-year spend at the new rates — then decide with real numbers, not the price you remember signing up at.

Where these numbers come from
Every price in this calculator was verified in August 2026 against the vendors’ own published pricing: QuickBooks Online’s list prices after the August 1, 2026 increase (Simple Start $38, Essentials $85, Plus $140, Advanced $340) and Xero’s announced US prices effective October 1, 2026 (Early $27, Growing $59, Established $97). We update this page when list prices change. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is quoted per-seat and per-edition by Intuit, so it isn’t in the dropdown — ask us and we’ll price your exact configuration against it.
The number the calculator can’t show you
Subscription price is the visible cost. The invisible ones usually decide the question: hours lost to a platform that doesn’t fit, add-ons stacked on to patch missing features, and the cost of a rushed migration after a renewal-date panic. A switch only pays off when the platform genuinely no longer fits — our guide to when to switch accounting software covers the honest decision framework, including the cases where staying put is the right call.
If your QuickBooks Desktop file is part of the equation, check it against Intuit’s migration limits with the free QuickBooks File Analyzer first — file size and health change which options are even on the table.
Common questions
Are these the real current prices?
Yes - verified August 2026 against Intuit's live pricing page (post-August 1, 2026 increase) and Xero's announced October 1, 2026 US prices. We update the page when vendors change list prices.
Why is my 3-year cost probably higher than this?
The projection assumes no further increases. QuickBooks Online raised prices in 2024 and again in 2026; Xero raises US prices in October 2026. History suggests treating the figure as a minimum.
Why isn't QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise in the calculator?
Enterprise is priced per-seat, per-edition (Gold, Platinum, Diamond) and often discounted through resellers, so a single list price would mislead. Email us your seat count and edition needs and we'll price it against your current stack.
Can you tell me if switching would actually save money?
Yes - that's the review we do. Send your plan, user count, and add-ons and we'll reply with real numbers, including 'stay where you are' when that's the honest answer.
